The wave is on the organza layer,
through which one sees the rich
kimono silk brocade,
dyed the colors
of the sand and deeper sea.
It was inspired by the beach at Amed, Bali,
where the sand is part black lava
from the Sacred Mt. Agung
and part white coral from an offshore reef.
It made me think of the sacred Balinese
poleng cloth,
dark and light checks
which symbolize the balance
between good and evil.
